This tube is from a rather depressing but enlightening yard sale. A painter was, from all I could discern, being forced to give up his paint as his children put him into a retirement home. I told the man how sorry I was that this was happening to him and made him a promise that I’d put his paint to good use.

There was a real history lesson in that box though. Some of the tubes were quite old. This one still has a metal cap! The Rhenish brand bears the name of Dr.Franz Schoenfeld & Co., the brand that’s now Lukas. The label states Utrecht as the US distributor, apparently before Utrecht began making its own line of paint.
