William King Museum of Art continues to celebrate the diversity of regional artistic talent with its biennial exhibition, From These Hills: Contemporary Art in the Southern Appalachian Highlands, a major exhibition of new works by artists working in all media in Southwest Virginia, Northeast Tennessee, Western North Carolina, Southern West Virginia, and Eastern Kentucky. The 2017 exhibition will open in The United Company Contemporary Regional Gallery of William King Museum of Art, Abingdon, Virginia, on October 5, 2017, and will continue through February 11, 2018.
The show will open to the public on Thursday, October 5, 2017, with a reception at the William King Museum of Art from 6-8 p.m. Guest curator Courtney McNeil will be in attendance and will give a brief talk about the jury process and the contents of the exhibition in general. There will also be a private preview reception the evening of Wednesday, October 4, from 6-8 p.m. for the Museum’s major donors and invited guests.
