I led a grant funded workshop that allowed 30 American Chemical Society member participants to explore the chemistry of color and paint media in a studio lab environment.
Have you ever wondered how chemistry contributes to the art we know and love? Join us as we learn how differences in chemical structure contribute to variations in color even within the same color family. We’ll observe different blue pigments under a microscope and then use those pigments to make a multimedia painting. We’ll also look into how different media impact the behavior of paints. Chemically interesting pigments used in art throughout the ages will also be discussed.
